The dictionary is based on the latest edition
(published in 2003) of the most authoritative Thai Dictionary
compiled by the Royal Institute. And in producing the
book, the compiler has also consulted several other Thai
dictionaries and Thai-English dictionaries. |

The dictionary contains
8,440 entries and approximately 45,000 subentries, including
many idioms, proverbs, sayings, and slang words and expressions
in current use. |

The translations are clear and precise, with informative
explanations wherever necessary. The compiler has made
use of dictionaries published in China in his translation.
He has tried to avoid such ambiguous and misleading translations
as “father-in-law” for both พ่อตา and พ่อผัว. |
